The Rt Revd Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham will rededicate Holy Trinity Church in Darlington on Sunday (11th June) following extensive refurbishment work.

The £450,000 project has been completed with support from a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £250,000 and grants from Sir John Priestman Charity, the Diocese of Durham and the Northumbrian Historic Churches Trust, All Churches Trust and Bondgate Methodist Church. The church also received legacies from Joyce Waited, Eileen Smith and Eileen Hope.
Priest-in Charge, the Venerable Nick Barker, also the Archdeacon of Auckland, said: “All the exciting renovation and development work has been completed and we look forward to a new phase in the life of the church.”
The service at 10.00am at the Woodland Road church will be attended by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of County Durham and the Mayor and Mayoress of Darlington, Councillor Brian Jones and Councillor Doris Jones. The architect, David Beaumont, and representatives of Barclay Roofing and Acomb Construction, who did the work, will be there.
Young people from the church will present two crafted stained glass windows for the Bishop to bless.
Holy Trinity has been staging a series of events of concerts and an art exhibition. The next event will celebrate marriage with a display of wedding dresses and a service for people to renew their wedding vows on Saturday 25th June.
